Gatorland’s Savannah Boan To Join The List Of

Expert Speakers At TEDxOrlando Oct. 27 at Full Sail University

ORLANDO, Florida (Sept. 17, 2018)    TEDx, known for bringing thoughtful leaders and subject matter experts onto the stage to share their “Ideas Worth Spreading,” is coming to Orlando this fall.  This year’s TEDxOrlando will feature Gatorland’s own Savannah Boan, Crocodilian Enrichment Coordinator and International Ambassador for Conservation, who will be among an exciting panel of speakers on Oct. 27 at Full Sail Live in Winter Park, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

TEDxOrlando is dedicated to discovering and elevating voices throughout Central Florida through TED’s unique story telling platform.  The theme for TEDxOrlando’s 2018 event is “Home,” and will focus on relationships, our environment and various global issues that challenge our understanding of what “home” means.

“I LOVE alligators and crocodiles,” exclaims Savannah, with her enthusiasm and huge smile lighting the room.  “I have dedicated my life to studying them and sharing their unique qualities with the world. TEDxOrlando is the perfect stage to showcase these amazing animals to a world-wide audience.  This is a dream come true for me.”

Through groundbreaking content for Gatorland’s worldwide social media, Savannah is changing the villainous perception of alligators and crocodiles to create respect for the animals and the world in which they live.  A Marine Corp veteran and 25 years of public entertainment, she has a special passion for alligators and crocodiles, and is an advocate for Florida wildlife and conservation, with a large following of fans and friends the world over.

Savannah has a pet crocodile monitor named Butters, is a contributing writer for the U.K.’s Digitilian online reptile magazine and has worked with crocodiles and reptiles from Cuba to Australia.  She shares her love and passion for alligators and crocodiles every day, whether in the park, through her appearances on iHeart Radio or to millions of followers on social media.

“We are thrilled that Savannah’s expertise and public persona will give Gatorland the opportunity to participate in TEDxOrlando for the very first time,” said Mark McHugh, President and CEO of Gatorland.  “She has so much personal commitment and energy for what she is doing for alligators, for crocodiles, and for all our animals at Gatorland.  We are so proud of her.”

Tickets to TEDxOrlando are $100 per person, with ticket sales going live on Thursday, Sept. 20.  To purchase tickets and find out more about the complete lineup of incredible speakers, go to www.TEDxOrlando.com.
