Gatorland Hosts Aug. 4 Motor Wheelchair Rally For Military Wheelchair Athletes

As Sponsor of National Veterans Wheelchair Games In Orlando This Week

ORLANDO, Florida (July 31, 2018)     Gatorland® is proud to be a sponsor of the 38th National Veteran’s Wheelchair Games in Orlando this week with more than 650 military veterans who are wheelchair athletes from the U.S., Great Britain and Puerto Rico expected to compete in 19 medal-awarding events throughout different locations in town.  The “Alligator Capital of the World” will be hosting the Motor Wheelchair Rally on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for veterans in motorized and manual wheelchairs to go around the park with their caretakers to enjoy Gatorland’s “natural Florida” scenic route.

The Motor Rally Route will take participants past the Gatorland Historic Gator Jaw entrance, and deep into the park past some of the park’s iconic alligators and crocodiles and into the alligator breeding marsh.  Participants will answer fun Gatorland trivia questions at five planned stops throughout their journey.

“We are thrilled to be a sponsor and host one of the exciting events for the National Veterans Wheelchair Games this week in Orlando,” said Mark McHugh, President and CEO of Gatorland.  “Part of our commitment to the community is to honor those who have served our country.  We give free park admission to veterans all year long at Gatorland.  We hope the military wheelchair athletes enjoy the rally and the chance to experience a little bit of “real Florida” during their visit to Orlando.”

This is a closed event for veterans in wheelchairs who have registered online at  http://wheelchairgames.org/orlando2018/
