American, Leucistic, Albino and Baby Alligators –
We Have Them All!
Once considered an endangered species here in Florida, over 2,000 American Alligators make their home in this 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve known as “The Alligator Capital of the World®.”
Visit our extremely rare, giant white alligators at the White Gator Swamp, where you’ll see leucistic brothers Feros Zonbi, and Trezo Je. They’re two of only 12 leucistic alligators known to exist in the world today. (Their brother, Jeyankwok, makes his home at Gator Spot by FunSpot America in Orlando.) And don’t miss our beautiful albino alligators, Cottontail, Moonshine and our YouTube sensation – Pearl!
What’s the difference between Albino and Leucistic? Albinism is a condition in which there is an absence of melanin, creating white skin and red eyes. Leucism, on the other hand, is a partial loss of pigmentation, which can make the animal have white or patchily colored skin, but the pigment cells in the eyes are not affected by the condition.
Also, be sure to pass by the new Baby Gator Marsh. Over 60 of our smallest alligators as well as this year’s hatchlings make their home in this protected area. Once they grow to a little older than 18 months, they’ll be moved into one of the outdoor pools to make way for next year’s hatchlings.
